CONCLUSION
Apartheid was designed to separate the white minority and non-white majority by a segregation that was enforced by law within South Africa. The ANC was an organization dedicated to abolishing apartheid and establishing racial equality for nonwhites within South African society. Oliver Tambo's involvement within the ANC permitted the ANC to achieve their goal. Through his foundation of the ANC Youth League, the black populace was able to participate in the protest against apartheid, and turning the ANC's mission into a revolutionary movement. Tambo's complicity with the United Democratic Front engineered the expulsion of South Africa from the British Commonwealth. Through facilitating the use of military training camps, that trained activists to engage in military missions, Tambo gave the ANC legitimacy as a central organization demanding the attention of other nations and international organizations. Due to the political capacity of the ANC, Tambo was able to persuade the UN, OPEC, the Europeam Union, the U.S., Japan, the Soviet Union, universities, and so on to impose sanctions against South Africa. As a result, South Africa was isolated from the world and this had a huge influence on the demise of apartheid.
Although Oliver Tambo is not as widely recognized as the iconic figure of Nelson Mandela he was a great leader who worked tirelessly to let the ANC's mission thrive as he gathered universal support for their fight for freedom. Oliver Tambo is remembered as a great leader within the ANC and has an airport erected in his honor. Today he lives on in the hearts of the South African people who are still fighting for racial equality amongst all races.
"I say that Oliver Tambo has not died, because the ideals for which he sacrificed his life can never die. I say that Oliver Tambo has not died because the ideals of freedom, human dignity, and color-blind respect for every individual cannot perish. I say he has not died because there are many of us who became part of his soul and therefore willingly entered into a conspiracy with him, for the victory of his cause."
